The aim of this book is, on the one hand, to analyze and understand the genesis of the concept of education in Islam: its theoretical foundation in the Koran and the Prophet's Tradition, and, on the other, to trace the major stages in its evolution within Arab-Muslim civilization over the first two centuries. It is intended for all those wishing to learn about the history of education in a religion that remains as relevant as ever.

Author: Habib Affes holds a doctorate in Education and a diploma in Arab and Islamic Studies and Training Engineering. He has reflected extensively on the encounter between Islam and the Western world.
