I love my religion" course
"J'aime ma religion" is a comprehensive Islamic education program for Muslim children living in the West. It was developed by Dr. Habib AFFES under the scientific, religious and linguistic supervision of a group of educators specialized in Islamic law and linguistics.
The elementary school Islamic education program "I love my religion:
1- contributes to the student's development by helping him discover and appreciate a way of being human that bears the hallmark of the Muslim project;
2- aims to provide an initial introduction to the basics of the Muslim religion.
3- contributes to moral education.
The aim is to introduce students to an art of living, a philosophy of life and a vision of the world. It's about gradually helping them discover that the Muslim faith is a way of life, not a sideline or simply an aspect of life. Obviously, this can't be done in a day, or a year, or even a primary school cycle. It's also important to emphasize that the Muslim faith is presented to the student, without coercion but with respect for his or her freedom.
The "I love my religion" program is a construction that makes it possible to concretize, by determining, in the form of six skills (كفايات), the major learning that students will do.
These competencies are as follows:
1- Memorize and understand the meaning of a number of suras in the Koran.
2- State the major beliefs and symbols of the Muslim faith (عقيدة).
3- Learn to question your choices and actions, in the light of Islam (الآداب والأخلاق).
4- Pay attention to the practice of Muslim worship (ablutions, prayers, etc...) (عبادات).
5- Appreciate the life of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him!) (سيرة الرسول).
6- Appreciate the lives and stories of the Prophets (Adam, Abraham, Jesus...) (قصص الأنبياء).
